That's a 旅, too:

24th of April: Tokyo - Sunshine 60, Shimo-Kitazawa

Random: Coca-Cola vending machine offers Ado points that can be used to get Ado-themed prizes. The best prize is one of ten toaster ovens with two Ado-themed plates.

The first attraction for the day is a skyscraper Sunshine 60 in Ikebukuro. It used to be the tallest building in Asia. It is mixed occupancy; most of the floors are businesses, but there are many shops and restaurants, too. There's also an aquarium in the building complex!

There are quite a few mainstream shops, but the main attraction of the building is its 60th floor.

On a clear day one could see Fuji. On a regular day like today, one can see how enormously huge Tokyo is.

The observation deck allows picnics, and has a baby room with a microwave. Nice!

The souvenir shop on the 60th floor had Detective Conan themed exhibition of sorts

The toilets on the 60th floor come with a manual. Spectacular!

Many shopping malls in Japan have a cafe index, and Sunshine 60 isn't an exception

We had grandiose plans for the evening, but we needed to kill a few hours before those, so we went to Shibuya. The first thing we noticed there (after the crowds) was limited edition BangDream MyGo!!!!! soda in a vending machine. Of course, sold out.

Shibuya scramble crossing is as busy as always.

Like, really busy

The Hachiko statue is so overcrowded it's virtually impossible to reach it. Wouldn't recommend.

The tram is no more. The whole area is under renovation

The lottery kiosks are exactly where they were for the last many many years

For comparison, Persona 5

Shibuya central street is full of tourists and doesn't have all that much fun stuff going on.

It looked better in the game 😁

We decided to leave Shibuya by foot to reach Yoyogi park. It is a nice walk.

The neighbourhood information bulletins warn about the dangers of wild animals. We haven't spotted any, though.

When I say "a nice walk", I mean a quiet pedestrian street with shops and flowers

Yoyogi park is large and pretty. It has a lot of stuff to see, like statues and such, but we haven't had time for that. We didn't even check out the Meiji Jingu shrine which is located right next to it. Maybe some other day.

Tokyo Metro station is hiding below the park.

Where do we go? To Shimo-Kitazawa, of course!

Unlike Shibuya, Shinjuku and Harajuku, Shimokitazawa isn't really an international tourist destination. It is a very hip area with old Tokyo vibes, vintage clothing shops and music venues, and its saving grace is that it's not VERY central (maybe 10 minutes by metro from Harajuku or Shibuya).

We were looking for vegan food everywhere. Turns out, the iconic MOS Burger has vegan burgers. Nice!

This area is a designated area for vintage market. It's not on today. But can you spot a famous building?

Bocchi The Rock!

Oh no, are we in a rock band now?

... We took a photo for Korean Bocchi the rock fans, and they took a photo for us

The stickers are plenty

A book shop Village/Vanguard knows that many people come here for the Bocchi pilgrimage

Exciting books, they say

More like exciting merch for Bocchi the Rock!

Bocchi Gacha time!

The shop is actually not just a book shop, but a hobby shop

You can get Tamagotchi there!

Of course, the book shop has lots of books. Well, not "books", manga

It has shonen, shojo, seinen, and then sections for some especially interesting things. "Dead Dead Demons DeDeDeDe Destruction" has its own corner

The DeDeDeDe corner has originals of the pages from the comic on exhibit (not on sale)

Boys Love and Girls Love sections are presented fairly, too.

Exciting books indeed.

Our final destination for the day, night club Shelter

It is the night club featured in Bocchi the Rock under the name "Starry"

There are so many tourists who try to take a photo and cause trouble that the live house had to put a warning sign. Unlike those tourists, we have actual tickets for an actual show. We came there for Bocchi and stayed for DOGA~

The club had actual Bocchi The Rock performances there, but that was last year!

Compare with the anime ~

The club is tiny, and the sound isn't very good, but the bands today were absolutely spectacular!

The night has started with 浪漫革命
https://youtu.be/lMYSptBzSFE

And continued with DOGADOGA
https://youtu.be/l8Pi0dT6WhA

(not that anyone cares, but if you do, DOGADOGA is a new project of a vocalist from the band called "plenty")

Final note for today: a can of "Chill out" that has GABA (?!)

* GABA is a chemical that has anti-anxiety properties comparable to lamotridgine

Ha ha, kidding! Here's more:

Syrup, right next to the sugar, in coffee shops

A street sign asking you to consider leaving your street gang. There's help available!

The next day
